5.0 out of 5 stars The Last of Us Remastered Review! 1 Aug 2014
By MrE TOP 100 REVIEWER
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Remastered
You will be in one of two camps, the first that simply never played the PS3 version of The Last of US and the Second that did and are wondering whether or not to upgrade to the PS4 version. For those in the first category, can I suggest you slap yourself around the face because you really did miss out! Joking aside lets talk about the game.

The Last of Us really was a triumph of what developers could create if they put their mind to it. Crucially the developers weren't pushed into rushing the game and as such when it did arrive on PS3 it was exactly as they intended. In my book the PS3 version even to this day remains one of the best games going and is certainly in my top 10 games ever.

So what is The Last of US? It's a Third person based, role playing adventure/horror game. You must survive in post apocalyptic America where a mutated fungus has taken hold and infected virtually everyone. It's edge of the seat stuff from beginning to end and really does showcase how good games can be!

Rather than waffling on and going into the ins and outs of everything in the game I simply want to say a few things about the differences between the PS3 and PS4 versions. While I wouldn't necessarily say it's worth upgrading to the next gen version if you still own a copy of the PS3 edition, as the PS3 edition was truly brilliant in itself. Be in no doubt that the graphics do look better with better textures and indeed the frame rate clearly running at a higher level (60 frames a second) and you can tell that simply by the fight scenes and shootouts as they run smoother on screen with no screen lag or graphical shudder (there wasn't exactly a lot of that in the PS3 edition but now it's completely gone).

5.0 out of 5 stars Same game, new experience. 1 Sep 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Remastered
This remastered edition breathes a new life in to the source material, there's no original content here but replaying Joel and Ellies tragic tale in full HD at 60 fps feels like a new and improved experience. In particular the higher framerate makes aiming and shooting that little bit easier. Without framerate drops, a higher draw distance and stunning lighting effects the immersion is turned up.

Do note however that while multiplayer and single player DLC is present with this package there is nothing new in terms of gameplay or story. That said anyone who enjoyed the original will be more than satisfied with this upgrade. The Last of Us pushed the PS3 to it's limits but I for one always felt that the presentation merely teased and the true potential of the game and the intricacies of it's aesthetic design suffered from the ageing hardware it ran on. Here then, is the Last of Us experience, finally reaching it's true potential.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal! 16 Oct 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Remastered
This game is quite simply phenomenal. I completed the original on the ps3 several times on all difficulties, collecting all collectibles. Rarely does a game draw me in to the point where I want to complete it 100%.
The graphics were photorealistic on the ps3 and even moreso here. Briefly, the story is about a man who loses his daughter before the outbreak and then 20 years later, he reluctantly forms a father-daughter bond with a young girl who is immune to the virus. He is tasked with taking her across the country to get a vaccine developed from her blood. The graphics, story, gameplay, character development, fighting, brutal takedowns and gunplay all contribute to what is one of (if not the) best game(s) I have ever played. This game is not a zombie massacrefest. The infected can present a real challenge at times, this is a game about survival. Buy it and you will not regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly great game! 10 Oct 2014

Firstly i would like to ask the public to ignor all the "reviews" below 4/5 stars. They idiots or COD lovers or they are Xbox fan boys who will do anything to hurt Sony.

This is truly a remarkable game. I got this free with a replacement PS3 console (my fat PS3 died) with Amazon. I had not heard much about the game (before the hype) and was not expecting much as i put the CD into the PS3.

After a few minutes i was fully submerged into the game, i could not stop playing and i lost control of time. Everything in this game is so well made. The voice acting is spot on and you feel for the main characters. The graphics and game play are fantastic and the story is just so refreshing and interesting.

It took me several hours to complete, a few days i think and that is because i dont just run about like a headless chicken collecting all the upgrades and running to the next checkpoint. But as soon as i had completed it, i was left really wanting more! Infact, at the end just before the credits began to roll, i was hoping this was not the end. I just wanted to keep playing. So much so that the next day i started the game again on the next difficulty level!

I only wrote this true review because i was angry at those people giving this remarkable game one, two or three stars. THIS IS NOT A ONE, TWO OR THREE STAR GAME. This is a five star game, a must for any true gamer who likes to get into a game and not just run about with a rifle killing everything that moves! (COD)

I cannot wait for a sequel to this wonderful game and i cannot recommend this game enough, just buy it i swear you wont regreat it!!
