Product Description

Review

'Assured and intelligent, with delicately handled heartache, this is a beautifully written book that will linger long after it's finished. Brashares fans will enjoy its considerable charms. In particular, she is adept at conveying the nuances of being grown up without knowing what that really means.'

(News of the World )

'Ann Brashares's new book, THE LAST SUMMER (OF YOU & ME) will delight all of her Travelling Pants fans - now grown-up and ready for this very adult novel of love, loss and the beauty of intense family bonds.'

(Anita Shreve )

'Ann Brashares has written a glorious novel of unrequited love, longing and the meaning of friendship in THE LAST SUMMER (OF YOU & ME). She weaves a tale full of delicious plot twists and revelations that will surprise and enthrall you. Riley and Alice are sisters, their relationship is as potent and complex as the real thing. Funny, deep and true, this one will keep you reading long after the sun has gone down.'

(Adriana Trigiani )

'An unputdownable beach book . . . love, deceit, and sex.' (Cosmopolitan )

Good read. I liked it, it's a good, strong read. Entertaining, good story, and i think i can recommend it to young teenagers as it's not just a boy meets girl story. there are other aspects to it.

Perfect Holiday read 25 Feb 2012
By WordWiz
Format:Paperback
I took this book on holiday to Greece and spent all of my time on the beach reading this novel. It's a really romantic story without being cliche or mushy and predictable.
I finished the book in two days it was that good. The characters are relatable and the book kept me guessing!
If you need a good holiday novel or a good romance, this is a must have!

I loved The Sisterhood series by Ann Brashares. I am eighteen and truly related with each of the girls. I also appreciate Ann Brashares' interesting writing style. She has a way of utilising adjectives and verbs, and metaphors too, in unusual ways that both surprise and delight. I was thus very much looking forward to reading this book.
It did not disappoint. Brashares displays a more mature voice here than in the Sisterhood novels, and more mature subject matter perhaps. The plot was at times weak and predictable but by no means boring. However the sheer beauty of the prose more than made up for this. This is why I award the novel five stars. It is flawed, but this does not detract from the wonderful writing. It is truly a book to savour. I related so much with the protagonist, Alice...Brashares has a talent for documenting pieces of the human condition and experience so accurately and with such sincerity. A read I very much recommend.
