This was an interesting short story which leaves plenty open to interpretation. The first half is superbly written with a vivid atmosphere and intriguing world.
Midway through, our protagonist, Henry, meets the mysterious woman Josie. The events in the story continue in as rich and forbidding manner as the former half, but I struggled with the dialogue between the two characters. I felt it leaned towards the opaque, being deliberately obfuscating in order to deliver the sense of mystery.
In a nutshell: a concept of epic, cosmic proportions, tucked neatly into a beautifully dusty post-apocalyptic tale, suffering only from faintly hollow dialogue.
