You will be in one of two camps, the first that simply never played the PS3 version of The Last of US and the Second that did and are wondering whether or not to upgrade to the PS4 version. For those in the first category, can I suggest you slap yourself around the face because you really did miss out! Joking aside lets talk about the game.

The Last of Us really was a triumph of what developers could create if they put their mind to it. Crucially the developers weren't pushed into rushing the game and as such when it did arrive on PS3 it was exactly as they intended. In my book the PS3 version even to this day remains one of the best games going and is certainly in my top 10 games ever.

So what is The Last of US? It's a Third person based, role playing adventure/horror game. You must survive in post apocalyptic America where a mutated fungus has taken hold and infected virtually everyone. It's edge of the seat stuff from beginning to end and really does showcase how good games can be!

Rather than waffling on and going into the ins and outs of everything in the game I simply want to say a few things about the differences between the PS3 and PS4 versions. While I wouldn't necessarily say it's worth upgrading to the next gen version if you still own a copy of the PS3 edition, as the PS3 edition was truly brilliant in itself. Be in no doubt that the graphics do look better with better textures and indeed the frame rate clearly running at a higher level (60 frames a second) and you can tell that simply by the fight scenes and shootouts as they run smoother on screen with no screen lag or graphical shudder (there wasn't exactly a lot of that in the PS3 edition but now it's completely gone).

The last of us in my opinion was one of the best games (story and gameplay) I'd seen in years and I thought on ps3 its was perfect, just outstanding. Now its on ps4 and I hav to say, absolutely immense, beautiful, can't believe wat they hav managed to do with an already (winning 200 game of the year awards) victorious game. The 1080p and 60fps is just amazing, this game is by far one of the greatest accomplishments I've ever seen in gaming history, naughty dog are iconic! 5 friggin stars! :D

The Last of Us is one of the best games I've ever played, I loved it from start to finish. The story & the characters are engaging and well fleshed out. I'd already played it on PS3 but that didn't put me off buying it again, it's that good. The Left Behind chapter is a nice added bonus.
Nice work Naughty Dog.

What can I say that no one else has? There's a reason this game is so popular. It's not a zombie game - they're over done, and often rubbish - though it is to a similar end, but is based on a more likely threat: cordyceps. The reason I say 'more likely' is that cordyceps exists, though it only affects insects, to my knowledge.
The graphics are amazing, the voice acting is amazing, and the scripting is so natural! There are points when Joel says "watch your step" to Ellie when you're at a potentially dangerous area (or would be dangerous in real life), and it's useless for him to say it because you're not controlling her. I love that, the unnecessary speech adds a surprisingly amount of depth to the world.
There aren't really any cheap frights, either. Things don't generally just pop out at you to frighten you. Also, the jokes. I love the jokes.
"It doesn't matter how hard you push the envelope, it'll still be stationary."
My boyfriend thought I was mad for laughing at them as much as I did, but they were funny! :D

The language is a bit coarse-ish (a few F-bombs at worst), and there are a few unsavoury people, but given the world they live in, it's to be expected.
The whole game works so well, and while I don't usually like these kinds of games - give me space or give me magic - this game has somehow made it to my top 5 favourite games.

And one last thing: in my opinion, it was the best ending I've ever seen.

This is certainly a game that must be played. It's one of the finest games ever made.

I've loved Naughty Dog games since I played Uncharted 1. This game is similar in look and movement to the awesome Uncharted series but with darker content and less humour. The story is excellent, albeit quite dark and sad. The action is fantastic and you get a real sense that you're struggling to survive.

The chemistry between the two main characters is superb. Naughty Dog do a great job of making you feel for these characters and wanting to keep them alive. There are times that I felt very sad playing this game. There were times that I laughed too. It's magnificent story telling.

One thing to point out is make sure you bear with the game for the first hour or so. That first hour is teaching you the ropes and the action is quite slow and seems laboured. The control system is quite deep so you do need time to learn it as later on you'll be flicking buttons like a mad thing when the pressure is really on.

I didn't bother with the multi player and sold it after doing the main campaign. I felt that the main campaign was great but didn't have enough in it for me to want to go back and do it multiple times. I completed it on hard and that was enough for me. I would recommend setting the difficulty to hard. That's difficult and will make the game last longer.

If you've played this game before, the next gen version doesn't add much new. Slightly higher res I think and 60fps. You'd really only notice that if you played the two side by side and neither improvement will make things worth buying again. You do get an extra chapter I think which was DLC before. That's short but still worth a play.

If you've never played it. You should.
