Product Description

No job? No family? Few friends? MI5 wants you. After acting on poor intelligence, officer Paul Tallis shoots a suspected terrorist in a Birmingham shopping centre. With his career over, Tallis leaves the elite firearms unit and is utterly disillusioned.A year later, Tallis is approached by a shadowy figure working for MI5. The offer is simple - unearth four dangerous illegal immigrants accidentally released from prison and hand them over to the authorities. At first, the plan runs like clockwork, but then Tallis makes an ugly discovery. Suspecting he's being set up, Tallis smells a conspiracy, but now the authorities are demanding the last exile - only this time the man is innocent.

Stunning 23 July 2008
Format:Paperback
Not my sort of book really as I'm more into horror. However .... I do like English fiction. Books that I can relate to, books which don't patronise the reader, books which allow the reader to imagine and become totally involved in the plot. This book hits the spot in all cases.

The action is there right from the start, no gentle lead in and if you've ever been to the Merry Hill shopping centre you'll picture the action graphically.

Whatever you think of police officers in this country carrying guns you cannot fail to have some sympathy for the hero (or is he the victim?) of the book.

I wouldn't like to comment on how much 'fact' underpins this book but it wouldn't surprise me if some of the shady characters exist.

In summary, if you like your thrillers fast and furious, enjoy classic English crime fiction then go and buy this. You won't be disappointed. You might like Absent Light written in the same vein!!

The Last Exile 25 Aug 2008
Format:Paperback
The Last Exile: 1 (MIRA)
E V Seymour's The Last Exile is set in familiar English surroundings in which most people generally feel comfortable going about their everyday existence.

As a reader who is new to this genre of novel, this is written so well that you begin to look around you and wonder about the reality of perception of your erstwhile secure surroundings and anybody can become a shadowy figure.

Paul Tallis is a wholly believable character and the novel twists and turns without being predictable and many layers of conspiracy keep you guessing right up to the end.

If subsequent Tallis books are as well researched and punchy as The Last Exile, E V Seymour will be able to claim another convert to her style of novel.

Thoroughly enjoyable and believable - I recommend The Last Exile without reservation.

I was `hooked' from the first sentence - compelled to read on.

E. V. Seymour's style of writing paints a fantastic picture and draws you into the story as you read on.
The excellent plot doubles back, comes around again and again to bite, then sting!

This well researched novel is a rollercoaster of intrigue with twists, shocks and horror along the way, coupled with a splattering of real humour.
E.V. is `spot on' with her descriptions of the areas and settings throughout.
She really knows human nature and habits - her well defined characters are very believable in this fiction novel set in the real world.

The ending chapters make riveting reading and, I for one, can not wait for the next thrilling `life journey' for Paul Tallis.
