Toolkit to heal your life
on 16 November 2012
Don't be put off by the title and cover, which makes it seem like just another book therapists keep on their bookshelves to show how wise they are. This is very much a practical toolkit. It has changed my life.
The main reason is how Karla Mclaren gives you a real way to deal with trauma (I see trauma as any event that destroys your sense of self). Very useful description of trauma and its resolution as a 3 stage process that just fell into place for me. You heal not through destroying that which hurt you, nor some soppy "They didn't know better" fake forgiveness, but through understnding and using your emotions as tools. So I have already used anger not to squash others, but as a healing tool that has helped me rebuild my sense of self.
Also she debunks alot of harmful myths we take for granted eg anger = bad, forgiveness = good and spirituality's rejection of the physical. This book has actually helped me connect more to my Infinite Self and use the law of attraction because I am unblocking my harmful self sabotaging beliefs.
There are shed loads of self help books out there that have all been useless for me because I was sabotaging my own life. This book is allowing me at last to dismantle that self harm.
