About the Author

As a private landlord herself, as well as someone who has been a student accommodation manager at two popular universities, Catherine Bancroft-Rimmer knows that there is a need for a clear and comprehensive handbook for landlords entering the student letting market for the first time. Even for those who have been letting to students for years, the market and the legislation are constantly changing and it is ever more important to ensure you are operating within the law and keep up to date with how best to market your investment.

Clear, concise and packed with useful info. This is a gret book if you are just starting out. My son has just gone to uni and it gave me pointers to look for with his landlord.

Found this book extremely helpful, giving the answers to lots of practical questions we had. Written concisely but with plenty of examples, sample documents and useful tips, by an author who shows a good deal of personal experience in the student letting market, as well a a sense of humour. Easy to read and well set out. From knowing practically nothing about this subject we felt we had a good general knowledge about the possibilities and pitfalls of student letting.

A very useful book, covers all the practical aspects of buying and letting a property to students: from the practicalities of gas checks, licencing of Houses in Multiple Occupation to even the available tax deductions. Also helpful appendices to save time creating tenant application forms, inventory checklists and useful contact numbers. The author has obviously firsthand experience in this business.

I found this an excellent book, the only one of it's kind with much information for the New Student Landlord, as well as essential reading for Students looking for rooms in the academic year. A 'Must Have' Book.

It's ok - makes an interesting read for a beginner but does not provide the 'go-to' handbook that I hoped for.
