I recently decided to look for a new Tarot Deck. I've used The Gothic Tarot for years, but it just wasn't "speaking to me" as it once did. I've changed a lot as a person since I got it, so that makes enough sense. I settled on this, The Labyrinth Tarot by Luis Royo, and I've gotta say I'm pretty decently impressed.
Some of the things I liked about this deck - for starters it has great imagery. It's vibrant without being obnoxious and contains plenty of esoteric symbolism for the seer with eyes to understand them. Lots of sensual images (If you've got major hangups about the human body, this probably isn't the deck for you.) Also, the imagery easily conveys an arcane, mystical experience often crucial to attaining or maintaining the necessary head-space for medium-ship, without losing its appeal to the progressive, liberal and modern-day thinker.
*Important note - THIS IS A SMALLER DECK. Switching to this deck from The Gothic Tarot will definitely take some getting-used-to, especially where I have bigger hands. The cards are 4-1/4" tall, 2-1/4" wide and I personally wish they were a little bigger. Also good to know - the names of every card with a few exceptions are in the corners in four different languages - English, German, Spanish and (according to Google Translator) Portuguese. #13 ("The Death") bears no linguistic markings, but it's obvious by the "Reaper" imagery which one it is.
I would give this deck a four out of five, but that's only because I wish the cards were bigger.
