Reviews

When Jeremy (Matthew McNulty) wakes from his stag do with a transvestite in his bed and scant memory of the night before, Best Man Peter (Noel Clarke) and buddies Ralphus, Albert and Jack muddle through the fog of their hangovers to reach the church on time. Meanwhile, blushing bride Alexandra (Talulah Riley) wakes nervously from her hen night, which ended with sex-crazed Anisha bedding the male stripper. Fellow bridesmaids Sarah (Mena Suvari), Julie and Helen attempt to keep Alex sane as the moment arrives to walk down the aisle and say, "I do".

Both hilarious and heartfelt, The Knot is the perfect blend of British romantic comedy at its best.

  • Interviews with Noel Clarke, Mena Suvari & Brett Goldstein

I wasn't anticipating an Oscar winning film, but did expect a lightly entertaining movie with some laughs. Unfortunately not. This is a hackneyed, sad attempt at comedy. It seemed the makers had a list of cliches to tick off in an attempt to get a few laughs, and failed miserably. The characters were uncharismatic and I ended up hating them and wishing a last-minute disaster on them - to see them killed by Godzilla or washed away by a tsunami might have brought some entertainment to the film. Thank goodness I watched this on my Kindle and could fast-forward past the more boring bits in an attempt to find something worth watching.

This film was hilarious and then some. The storyline was so plausible. The humour was tongue in cheek in some parts but still enough to keep you on the edge of tears, of mirth.

What is it with Brits producing one bad romantic comedy after another?

This film was awful. I only claim I watched it to the end because yes, the TV was on, but I was busy doing other things. The combination of cheap slapstick humour (poor toilet jokes, insinuation of gay sex and other pranks groom's friends are busying themselves with, granny underwear?), too many actors (to the point when you don't really care who is who), too many events compressed in a short period of time (quantity instead of quality). I love romantic comedies, but this is just a bad film. And Mena Suvari... What happened to the once golden girl who was even nominated for BAFTA! Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

This film deserves one solid star. But I am feeling generous (besides, if I gave I Give It a Year [DVD] [2013] two stars, I feel I should be considerate. Also, Brett Goldstein is more or less watchable.)

The golden age of British romantic comedy is gone... It seems.

If you liked 4 Weddings , Bridget Jones or even TheHangover , then you must buy this . A fabulous British and American cast and a very funny story.

It's a very British take of the wedding film, very much worth anyone's time to watch. I did have my doubts when it was described as the British version of the Hangover. It really isn't like those films but more like a re-vamped four weddings and funeral. In rare cases films come along that not only entertain but also leave a positive lasting impression. I would definitely recommend this film to everyone I know and I think anyone would enjoy this film.

Very funny especially if you're aged 18 - 35 as most of the pranks will be familiar to you and strike a chord. The filming takes a little while to get used to, but when you do it is logical. The acting is believable and never seems stilted. Don't be put off by the slow beginning, it gets better and you'll find yourself laughing out loud most of the time.

This is undoubtably the worst film I have ever seen! I watched about 20 minutes (which was a struggle) and then put the DVD in the charity shop bag. Poor cinematography, dire acting, awful story. How did this ever get made??!
