For those interested in the history of shipping services and transportation to the islands of Scotland, this is a fascinating book, full of photographs and information about the steamers and the personalities involved. It is a social history of the area as well as a history of the ships and of the iconic shipping line.
It is a wonderful read and, though you may have baulked at the price of the hardback, the paperback version is more affordable.
