Product Description

Product Description

A favourite of guitar legends (and God) Peter Green, Mick Taylor and Eric Clapton, Texas born Freddy King is perhaps lesser known than Albert and B.B. but holds his own as a true Blues guitar great. The two discs here feature Freddy's first two albums released on King records. The first supplied numerous charting singles while the second is entirely instrumental and houses his masterpiece 'Hideaway'. The bonus tracks included pair King and label mate Lulu Reed.

Product Description

(2CD) His first two (classic!) studio albums in full + singles including a 4 songs with Lula Reed - 28 tracks.

If Eric Clapton had not heard this at John Mayall's House, rock guitar would be a very different animal? All the best

This is a really great complication of his early work at King records. One record of vocals and one of instrumentals.

Freddy King - The King Years 1961-1962
There are many compilations of Freddy King's recordings. This may not be the best but for the price and what you get, this is hard to beat. Disc 1 is Freddy playing the blues with his great vocals and guitar front and center. Many of these became blues classics and were covered by many other artists. Disc 2 features instrumentals with an R&B twist and again the guitar fronts the band. These tracks seem a little less serious than the blues tracks but the musicianship is high and that guitar is loud and clear making for a fun listen. The music that Freddy King put down before 1962 is amazing and you can easily understand why so many who followed copied his licks. Freddy was one of the first guys to pull together the blues and R&B sounds and he certainly earned his spot as one the most revered and influential guitar players in music history. Buy this or another of the many collections of the great Freddy King. His music is essential to fans of blues and R&B!
