2.0 out of 5 stars Very little deep information = well hardly any. 18 Jun. 2014

Ok there are apps but very little that knowledge you can't find out in a few minutes from the description page for Kindle Paperwhites or Kindle Fires etc.

I thought it would tell a bit more of the difference between the All New Kindle Fire HD 7" and the Kindle Fire HD 7" Previous Generation but no chance. I also wanted perhaps some hints about how Free time works. = no chance

This book contains just a few paragraphs about each Kindle device in the ALL NEW RANGE of KINDLES and nothing at all about Freetime.

Save your cash.

Thank goodness it was just over £2. and not £5.

I've bought a All New Kindle Fire HD 7" and wanted to be able to give my preschool grandson the chance to listen to music or play games on it without him connecting to WiFi = I've decided I'd better tell the Kindle Fire to forget my router and that way if on the odd chance he finds the scanning page and picks the right router he still won't know the password to connect.

I've already bought a childproof case for him for the new All New Model as he's already managed to find factory reset and press the Yes button - he's two and a half and cannot read but he got there.

He was lying on the floor listening to music - on our old original Kindle Fire as it could not be dropped as it was already on the floor = He was listening to the Jungle Book cd and pressing pause and play and increasing and decreasing the volume and suddenly silence and the Kindle Fire was emptied totally. Luckily there was only cloud media on it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't!! 19 Mar. 2013

Downloaded this on my Kindle Fire HD primarily to help with my new Kindle Paperwhite. It is poorly written in my view and is much briefer than I expected. Chapter 3- A Simple Guide for Using the Kindle Paperwhite is a whole 3 pages long. A perfect example of confusing language "while using your computer, go to the root folder and create a folder with the name "pictures". Within it create a new sub-folder. Then put jpegs in it, unplug and click Alt-Z to rescan." WTF? Chapter 3 is replete with these type of "simple tips". Chapter 2 is also a whopping 3 pages long and purports to tell you all you need to know about the Kindle Paperwhite. Suffice it to say that "how to use it" only begins on page 2 of 3 and, believe it or not, tells you that "... is pretty easy especially due to the fact that it's(sp) easy to use features are easy to understand." Are you kidding me, I paid $.99 for this? Among other great tidbits you learn is that you can actually read using only one hand. Wow, thanks for that! Oh, it also tells you how to adjust the lightbulb. At least I didn't waste my monthly free one "borrow a book" feature with my Amazon Prime or I would have been really mad.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some Information 10 Jan. 2013

This is definitely a good book to download, having purchased a Kindle Fire. However, I wish it were more informative for people who are not savvy to this technology. I am a senior citizen and can use all the help I can get. This book is limited. The best help I have received for my Kindle has been from the comments regarding each app. I have learned to rely on them for the best information!

She should stick to recipe's. There's many more Kindle HD
Books out there that do a better job for the first time user.

This book compares the Kindle Paperwhite, The Kindle Fire HD and The Kindle Fire HD 8.9. It has easy, user friendly tips and information on each device. I like the Chapter on the top apps you can download. This book is good for anyone who bought a Kindle or is planning on purchasing one and wants to do some comparative shopping.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helped Me Understand the Kindle Paperwhite 13 Dec. 2012

I got this book to better understand the Kindle Paperwhite features. It was really helpful. Paperwhite uses a "white" ink with a front light. This makes the text print black on a white background which is more natural. The lighting can be controlled so you can even read in the dark. There are all sorts of features explained like the tapping or swiping to change pages, the web browser, google maps, google reader with RSS feeds and more. It was really helpful! There's also a section on the Kindle Fire HD if you're thinking about buying that device.
