It's no secret that Dendera have been taking the local scene by storm with their tight, energetic stage performances.
The band's debut album The Killing Floor builds on this to deliver the well-produced slice of modern-meets-classic metal that fans have been anticipating for quite some time.
Right from opening track; "For Vengeance", the choruses are huge and the riff attack produced by axe wielding duo Steve Main and Tony Fuller could level a building. And yes, the album is heavy, but crucially still packed with the sense of melody that really has helped to set Dendera apart from many other young bands on the scene.
Frontman Ashley Edison's trademark falsetto screams are present in abundance, and his distinctive vocal style helps to add another dimension to this Immersive offering.
Particular highlights come in the form of the power metal tinged "My Mercy" and the beautifully epic "Bridges Will Burn". The lyrical themes of ancient battles and fighting for glory fit perfectly with the feel of the album as a whole and the fantastic rhythm section, consisting of drumming powerhouse Andy Finch and Bass wizard Bradley Edison, help to bring the whole thing together.
This is a band that have come a very long way since the release of their EP last year, and they have produced one of the finest debut albums that you will hear this year.
