I read this book about a year ago, and I'm about to read them all again (my school library has a new copy of the hunter - I. Must. Read!). I agree with the people who say the ending was fine the way it was.
Well, in one sense it's brilliant.
In the sense that Jenny is making the right choice and it couldn't have happened any other way - ooh it's amazing.
However, (and I know everyone is saying this) I really would have given in to Julian in the corridoor of the paper house. (if it's possible to fall in love with a character from a book, i hit it 100 times over...)
The characterisation made by LJS is brilliant - they are all so believable, and Julian in perticular sends shivers down my spine every time. I - like most people on here - cried my eyes out at the end. I can just imagine it now....*gazes into space* *slaps self* Oi. Get on with the review, girl!
I laughed my ass off at a lot of this, some parts are hilarious, some parts make you cry, and some just entrance you.
A definate hit.
A must-read.
I think all the people reviewing on here should get together and write a lovely letter to a) Hollywood - for a film and b) to L.J. Smith - for a sequel or two.
We want more Julian!
Come on gals - lets start a protest!

The ending of this book was so sad! I knew what would happened before I read this book, but even that didn't prepare me for what happened and like many others here, I cried!

This is an amazing book, it takes you in and wont let you stop reading until you reach the end. It was amazing seeing the way all the characters changed over time, specially Julian, he seemed to have changed alot from my memories of him from the first book. This was probably the best book in the series, it really plays with your emotions and you can feel Jenny's fear, sadness, and worry. You can also feel her love for Julian at the end, even though she knew she wouldn't be happy with him.

I strongly disagree with what many people have said about the ending being 'silly' because no one would pick Tom over Julian, but I believe that if that is what you truly think, then go back over the books. You will find that although Tom is possesive and Jenny is strong without him, neither will truly be happy without the other. And even if Jenny went with Julian, she would of had to give up everything, and I personnaly wouldn't have enjoyed the ending half as much as I had.

It was a sad ending, but a necessary one, that teaches all who read it an important lesson, you can still love someone without being with them. Jenny showed this, and it was lovely of her to wear his ring, and it was good of Tom, not to upset her about it. She may never see him again in with her eyes, but as long as she still carries her memories of him, his life would not be a waste.

I know that a lot of the people who read the book said that Jenny was really stupid for choosing Tom over Julian....but for me, that is not true. It isn't for us to judge whether or not it was right for her to chose Tom....it was her choice (and, of course the author's!).
Some people didn't see the story as I did. For me, the point wasn't that Jenny had two gorgeous opposites to chose from. It was about love, and how much love can change someone. I know that a lot of the readers may disagree with the way I saw the story....because they saw it in another light. I guess everybody is entitled to their own opinion! :)
I think that when Lisa Smith wrote this book....she wanted to show us what love can do for us....and how it can change us.
Of course I cried when I read the end....who wouldn't? I read it...and part of me died when it ended. But I didn't see Jenny as a stupid person who chose the wrong guy to love....I saw her as someone so strong and so wonderful. She was faced with the dilemma of choosing between the two people she loved. And Julian was man enough to make the choice for her....he loved her enough not to force her to choose between them.
Lisa J Smith is one of the most powerful writers I have ever come across. And I hope she continues writing.....for her writing carries a hidden message. A message we too often have to be told in order for us to remember.
