Sure its only got 7 tracks on the album (2 of them remixes) but its a real gem. The first track, "spoiled & rotten", is pure genius, reminiscent of the angel theme tune which they wrote, it combines violin melodies with a rock beat and heartfelt lyrics. The next track, "awesome", has an almost 80's feel to it, but mixes this with a very modern punk bass. "Cocoon" and "Cure" have more of an easy listening style, which I found rather disappointing but which does mean it has something for everybody. Finally, "I want to kill you", features the best points of all the other tracks and proves why "Darling Violetta" are becoming a vital addition to anyone's music collection. If you like the Angel theme tune make this a must, if you like styles ranging from the Corrs, Skunk Anansie and Velvet Chain do not miss this exquisite album.

Making comparisons between bands is pointless at the best of times. And when you try to pigeon-hole a genuinly original creative force, such actions can serve only to cheapen the efforts of the band, and stifle the imagine of listeners. Such is the case with Darling Violetta Few bands can seamlessly blend sweeping orchestral melodies with soaring, pulse-pounding riffs on an entire album. Darling Violetta do it with every single song. And the excellent musicianship is coupled with a perfect leading voice. The whole package is helped by the crystal-clear production it deserves. In fact, the only downers are the price, and the remixes. The two remixes are mundane and flat, especially in comparison to the striking original tracks. But leave them out, and what you're left with is a superb, ear-catching set of tracks which could blow most recent albums out of the water. The price is steep, but each track is lovingly crafted, so it's worth every penny. Darling Violetta are well worth checking out, so that in the future, when the mainstream finally realises their creative genius, you can proudly say 'I was there from the start!'

GENIUS! I first bought this album as part of my never-ending search for the worlds greatest band and, by god I think I've found them.
I love 'Spolied and Rotten' it just gives depth to the entire recording. Also I will admit, yes, I heard 'Cure' first on Buffy but this band have outgrown everything they started at.
Buy it, buy it now!

most of the people who dicscovered this band i did so through buffy and subsequently angel. i, like most fans listen to all the bands on the both shows with mixed reviews but i am pleased to say DV are a refreshing change. often haunting lyrics sung by an amazingly talented voice guarantee that this is one record you won't regret buying.
