Book Description

3 Sep 2012
‘Time ago little piece still there was a group of friends, Leona, Shelly, Maggie, Sonia and me, Jennie. We were all good girls and had big plans for ourselves.’ And Kriss, he’s hot but he’s older and he’s Claire’s brother, so Jennie can’t go there, no way. Then one of the group winds up stabbed and Jennie and her friends are out to sort the asshole who did it, whatever it takes. What with that and some family stuff Jennie does a little growing up, and who’s gonna help her do that better than the gorgeous Kriss… The Kickdown Girls is a story for today, for the streetwise girl who knows what she’s worth and who ain’t worth her time.

More About the Author

Georgina Campbell
Born in south-London(Lambeth)
As a young girl, I found the streets not a good look.
I got up to allsorts in and out of trouble, never saw it at the time!
Well you don't do you?
I had my children young and love them dearly!
I didnt finished school, but I ended up training as a chef at Brookland College (weybridge), which I enjoyed very much.
I write about how I see the world, some people go through life with blinkers on(eyes closed tight) only seeing what they wish to see?
Day time, night time any time crime.
When we were young we would put a video on thats as close as it got!
Now all you have to do is open your front door, step out and your in that dvd playing out the role, not knowing if you will see your loved ones again.
The places we live the things we do, murder, drugs and so on...
So i write for those whom wish not to see whats really happing, open your eyes.

If you haven't seen 'Attack the Block' or 'Shank' or perhaps don't even know what these are, you are unlikely to understand or enjoy this book. For a large part of the population, especially in London and other major cities, there is an urban sub-culture which takes in gangsta rap and gangsta culture. It has its own language and set of rules. This is not cosy suburbia.

Just like Ree Ree, Tash and Little Lexy (the gurls), Leona, Shelly, Maggie, Sonia and Jennie have their own agenda, are streetwise and trying to make the right decisions in life.

Let's face it, life in urban London is gritty and raw. Georgina Campbell has captured its essence perfectly in the Kick Down Girls.
