Considering that this Album is a good few years old now, it still has a tremendous intensity and importantly I think it still sounds fresh next to more modern acts like Nile and Cryptopsy.
In terms of the style in which Nocturnus play, I would say that they are very similar in approach to things as Morbid Angel especially in regards to the high levels of musicianship and technicality of their song structures.
The one major difference between Nocturnus and most other bands in the genre is that they prolifically use keyboards in their material, This would obviously make certain Death Metal Fans a bit wary of the end product.
In the case of this Album The keyboards do nothing to take away the power and heaviness from the music on this CD.
If There are any Death Metal enthusiasts out there who don't own this album then I highly recommend that you purchase this CD, for I believe that it is a true Death Metal Classic.

Epic album by one of the most underrated Death metal band ever!
Those guys were also between the first, if not the first, band to introduce electric keyboard into Death metal.
Suggested.

The ideal way to buy this music & being sure it will arrive in time. Also much easier than walking into 10 shops without much hope for a good result.

While Nocturnus were never in the forefront of the death metal explosion of the early 90's, this album reveals a band who certainly deserved wider recognition. The band are probably most famous for featuring original Morbid Angel vocalist/drummer Mike Browning (as featured on the Abominations of Desolation album), and if anything Nocturnus were more technically minded than Morbid Angel at the time, with intricate and complex guitar lines (though it has to be admitted Browning is rather limited as a drummer). Their other claim to fame is as the first - if not only - death metal band to feature a keyboard player, and to the bands credit they manage to utilise this sound throughout the songs without losing any extremity. Plenty of great infectious riffs, and complex enough to still sound fresh and interesting 14 years later.
A couple of weak filler tracks prevent this from quite achieving the 'classic' status, but this is certainly worth checking out for anyone interested in digging deeper into the more obscure artists in the early death metal scene.
