I found this book a great insight into the race, the organisation, the team behind it and the different people who competed in it. As Mark writes, it is not a guide on how to run it, its more advice relating to his own journey. Everyone is different and has different requirements. I just completed the race and would put myself in the "back of the group" placing. 100 or so people started the race and only 50 completed it. I found the race itself very painful and difficult but an awsome experience. Very strong atheletes went down on the first day, 2 of which ended up in a coma. The race is raw, but Mark's book is an awsome read and totally gets the race for what it is, its ethos and also the challenge that it represents and having read it a second time, can relate to it even more. Thanks Mark !
