It's great to see this 1967 LP reissued on CD, I got "The jungle" as a single at the time and I've always thought that it was a really good song and a great sounding record. BB is on top form here, his vocals are really strong and emotional and his stinging guitar is right up front in the mix. The backing is really good, with excellent (uncredited?) piano and horns used sparingly and sympathetically.

There is a great collection of songs here, lots a classic blues like Eddie Boyd's "Five long years" and Sonny Boy Williamson's "Eyesight to the blind" and also some blues classics like "Ain't nobody's business" and "Mean old world" that BB manages to breathe new life into and make his own. I particularly like the songs "Blue shadows and "I stay in the mood" where his guitar sounds fabulous but this is a very consistent collection of songs, albeit from different sessions and never meant to issued as one record. Highly recommended mid-period B.B. King.

Probably BB King's best ever album and certainly my favourite, the one I play most often.

I have the original on Vinyl, on the US label, signed by King and some band members, Chas Boles, Organ, Lee Tatling, Sax, Pat Williams, Trumpet & Sonny Freeman, Drums. I bought the CD from you save my vinyl copy from excessive use, however it (Vinyl copy) still sounds better than any inferior CD.

Whilst the sound quality may be somewhat variable (a fault, I suspect, of the original era, recordings and equipment) the sound is so raw and alive you simply don't care.

I'm perhaps not extensively experienced with Blues; however whilst there is nothing revolutionary on this CD, for a solid implementation of Blues classics it's well worth seeking out.
