Book Description

4 July 1996
Donna Brunos worships her husband and is devastated when he is jailed for armed robbery. Georgio swears he’s been set up and persuades Donna to help him escape.

Implementing ‘the jump’ takes Donna into a twilight world she never believed existed - a world of brutal sex and casual violence. Finally, she is confronted by a series of shattering revelations that threaten not only everything she believes in but also, ultimately, her own life...

5.0 out of 5 stars Thriller that thrills! 11 May 2004
By Lisa Henshaw VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
I don't usually read crime novels, I am a historical fiction fan, but someone at work lent me this book. I was hooked from the first few pages. Donna's husband is arrested and imprisoned and she has absolutely no idea of what he was involved in and to what extent. He asks her to arrange his escape and through meeting a lot of dodgy characters (including her in-laws) she finally realises how her husband had been keeping her in so much luxury, and it is a shock to her. Donna's character develops as the story goes on and she becomes stronger and stronger until you are cheering her on in the final pages.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would be interested to read another of the author's novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best so far... 3 May 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Having read most of martina cole's books now this has to be the best by far, not taking anything at all away from the others, but the way she manages to get you inside the characters mind is unbelievable, you almost feel as if you are with the characters all the way.

Just ordered the video for this, having not seen the television serialisation previously, hope its as good as the book.

Can't wait till October for the new one to be released.

Keep up the good work Martina....

5.0 out of 5 stars GRIPPING & FAST MOVING 23 Nov 2006
By A. Rose TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As usual from Martina Cole, very gripping with lots of bad language, bad people and a fantastic humorous twist at the end. This one centres around Donna who doesn't realise she's married to a naughty boy. She soon has to wake up to all he's done (and it's bad !) and by the end of the book she's no longer the naïve innocent that she started out married life as. I don't know whether her description of `being inside' is accurate but if it is, it's a very frightening place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Martina at her best! 16 Oct 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
The Jump kept me so involved, I lost three days of my life! This amazing book is one hell of a ride, this and Two Women are definately her best efforts yet. Donnas character is complex- yet one most women can relate to and Georgios character is fantastic- the more you read the more you want to strangle him yourself. Lots of twists and turns, this book is ideal if you like underworld thrillers and you love loosing yourself in a book- go on get lost! I did and loved every minute of it!

3.0 out of 5 stars not her best, but an easy read 1 Jan 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Being a fan of Martina Cole, i was disappointed when I read Donna's story. So much of it doesn't add up. She has never met a man described by her husband as his best friend, she cannot adopt because of her husband's past yet is surprised that he has criminal dealings, she forgets completely about a hotel they own in Sri Lanka until it is useful to the plot and despite finding out all about child pornography she does nothing about it (and she is obsessed with having a child). And I was surprised she managed to get anything done as she seemed to spend most of the novel in tears. As usual it has a cast of thousands, most of whom you never rally work out if they are anything to do with the plot, but it is a great story.

I usually know if l am going to like a character within the first few chapters, however just as I made up my mind, the author put in a twist making merealise I didn't know the character at all.

One twist after another. A must for all Martina ole fans. Another one you won't want to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating..thrilling.. 29 Sep 1999
Format:Paperback
Last year, while en-route to Russia via a ship, my husband was given this book to help pass the time. After he returned to the States, he gave it to me. This is an excellent book. It's been a long time since an author has held my attention this way. After searching for more of her books, I was able to find them on Amazon.co.uk and was extremely excited. I have since read four of her books in three weeks and I am currently waiting for her latest one to arrive.

Martina Cole writes with an insight to things like no other author I've read. My husband is not a "reader" and he thoroughly enjoys her work.
