Listened to this in the car on a 5 hour drive, and got about half way through. Fortunately, got it from the public library and didn't have to waste my own money on it, but the taxpayer may have a legitimate complaint. The only thing this author seems to have researched at all are the firearms his characters carry. Actually, calling them characters is a bit of a misnomer: they're more like cartoons or caricatures. Superficial, one dimensional stereotypes. Weak characterisation is possibly acceptable if the plot is strong. Sadly, not so here. Takes ages to get out of first gear. Sometimes weak plot and limited characters can be partly compensated for by the excellence of the writing. This has several cliches per page. Not sure if I shall live long enough to finish it. Got its second star for keeping my wife awake.
