If this book had appeared forty years ago I would have given it five stars and bemoaned the fact that six was not an option. But this is 2012 and the original Joy of Sex has been widely read over those forty years, as have many other good books that followed in its footsteps. If you're hoping to find anything new in here you'll be sorely disappointed because it consists mostly of chapters cribbed word for word from the original book. To further compound the felony, references to non-existent chapters have not been edited out and so we are told to "go to that section" only to find that it's not there! This is a blatant advert for the bigger, paid-for book:
I've given it three stars: one because it's free, two because what little it does contain is all good stuff and three for a particularly valuable piece of information, namely the contents of the paid-for and, supposedly, 'complete' version. From this it's clear that it too is incomplete. Although there are some new chapters, quite a lot of the original material is missing including almost everything from Volume 2. If you're lucky enough to possess copies of the original two books that aren't falling to pieces, I strongly recommend that you hang on to them.
