Product Description

Review

'Parke encourages us to live in the present, to fear nothing. This is a spiritual book for those who sense there is a journey to be had' (Yoga magazine)

'Parke offers a rugged, spiky path of challenge and ridicule for what you might presently hold dear, expressed in a sympathetic, lucid style that mixes humane anecdote with deft borrowings from Buddhism or the Stoics' (Guardian)

This must surely be on one of the most essential books to read for those on the path of spiritual enlightenment.

It sets out the way to live in the most easy to understand terms, awe inspiring on one hand and, through the writers "commandments" it is possible to attain a greater degree of perfecting of the self. I would say the word Commandment is a bit harsh, and would have liked the term changed to "Recommendations" as it is up to the individual if they want to live the way the book suggests.

Well worth the read and very useful as a self help book which helps you to see yourself as you actually are and how to be who you truly are inside. Deep stuff, yes, but well worth the read as you will undoubtably learn something that brings you towards inner happiness and contentment.

Fabulous, clear, amusing, easy to read and gets right to the heart of How to live in your body and learn to love your life. Making it feel doable to change what we can change, now or later, accept what we cant change, and be happy with the wisdom of knowing the difference.

"The Beautiful Life" by Simon Parke has been rewritten as this: "The Journey Home" and it is the book Simon Parke uses as a basis for leading his retreats. Ten thought-provoking chapters take us through ten new commandments to guide us to a happier outlook on life: 'Ten commandments for discovering your true self'. 'Flee Attachment' (to a select few) and 'Cease Separation' (from the rest of mankind) were the most telling chapters for me: 'when all men count but none too much' is something I feel I should particularly work on. Even if you possess "The Beautiful Life" I recommend "The Journey Home" as well; I find it fascinating to see which passages have been rewritten.

I have found this an incredibly helpful book, it allows space to consider who you really are, opens your eyes to the possibility of a different way to "be".
