This book is a complete history of the greatest comic book villain of all time: the joker. it comes beautifully bound in a hardback cover with the jokers menacing grin on the front. it explores his entire history and origin from his debut in 1940 to the performance by the tragic heath ledger in the dark knight, and his appearance in the video game arkham asylum. for years the joker has astounded, entertained and horrified comic book and film fans, yet he was only supposed to be a one shot character in 1940 and actually dies at the end of his first comic, but luckily one of the DC writers realised what a great character he was and saved him at the last minute. the book explores all of his best stories and his numerous run ins with batman and contains some wonderful comic artwork both old and new. even if you don't feel like reading the text there are so many pictures, sketches and artwork to browse through you may not notice the hours flying by. it also contains an introduction by mark hamill who, apart from playing luke skywalker in star wars, has also voiced the joker in more cartoons and video games than any other actor. the authors have done a great job with this book and i have to say it sits proudly on my bookshelf and has become one of my favourites.
