The Jessame Stories by Juliet Jarman captured our family's imagination immediately and have become firm favourites. They tell of the daily lives of Jessame and her family and neighbours in the most endearing way. Bithday parties, school teachers and the back drop of Bethnal Green are all woven into gentle reassuring stories that leave parents and children alike feeling warm and happy. My children especially loved the "very fancy dress" story which inspired visits to the Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood.
Adjoa Andoh's rendition is a pleasure to listen to with it's mixture of accents.
I recommend this audio tape, and the original book to anyone who has young children. It' a real treat.
