4.0 out of 5 stars Its Fun enjoy the ride 7 July 2011
By Parm TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition
So... one review for and one review against... so where do i come in!??

For of course... Its like the old arguments about adventure films... oh that was rubbish the plot had no substance it was all flashy effects, boobs and bangs...SO! that's what is to be expected of certain types of films.

and in the case of These books its what you should be expecting, they are fast paced action novels that stretch the bounds of reality past breaking point to take the reader on a ride that is so far from reality that they forget reality for a while.
This was what i wanted after reading 3 roman books back to back, something to clean the palate something that required no thinking, that contained good fun characters, a plot that was not too taxing but took the reader along at a high pace, with a smattering of reality that ust makes the plot plausible.

Its a brain off thrill ride, as the majority of Cotton Malone books have been!... i knew what i was getting when i parted with my cash and i wasn't disappointed... if you are thinking of buying this and getting Tolstoy, well you have wasted your time, if you think Matthew Riley, Andy McDermott, Clive Cussler then you are in the right ball park.

Its fun enjoy the ride

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good read. 26 April 2012
Format:Paperback
First Berry Novel I've read and judging by other reviews if this isn't his best work I'm very excited. Interesting historical fact twisted together with a very compelling storyline. Just as good as the various Brad Meltzer books I've read and strong enough to make Dan Brown wet himself. Give it a go.

4.0 out of 5 stars A SWASHBUCKLING PAGE TURNING ADVENTURE... 6 Mar 2012
By Lawyeraau HALL OF FAME TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
This is an entertaining, page turning thriller, featuring recurring character Cotton Malone and his now main squeeze, Cassiopeia Vitt. Cotton, a former agent with the Justice Department, is on a weekend jaunt in New York City with Cassiopeia, when he receives a mysterious summons, purportedly from his former boss, Stephanie Nelle. When he responds, he is thrust into the maelstrom of a fight that has a historical basis and involves pirates and privateers.

Mixing history with fiction, the author delivers an intricate, densely plotted thriller that will grip the reader's imagination. With facts torn from the fabric of United States history, the author weaves an elaborate tale that will delight those who enjoy conspiracy theories, as well as those who enjoy an action packed, fast paced story with intriguing characters. Presidential assassinations, secret ciphers and codes, and the United States Constitution all figure prominently and are well integrated in the plot.

This is most definitely a plot driven book, and while the characters are interesting, there is little time spent on character development. Those readers who are history buffs, however, will most definitely enjoy the historical underpinning of the plot. Moreover, the writer's notes at the end of the book are worth mentioning, because in them the author details what is actually factual in the book. It is a very neat and interesting historical synopsis that only adds to one's enjoyment of the book.
