Product Description

Product Description

Bertie may be in danger of having his spine severed in five places by that jealous gorilla G. D'Arcy (Stilton) Cheesewright, but, as Jeeves insists, the priorities still have to be observed. And so, thanks to Jeeves, they are throughout this bumper volume, whatever mayhem may be loosed upon the befuddled head and generous heart of Bertram Wilberforce Wooster. This volume contains: Jeeves and the Feudal Spirit, Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves and Jeeves in the Offing.

About the Author

The author of almost a hundred books and the creator of Jeeves, Blandings Castle, Psmith, Ukridge, Uncle Fred and Mr Mulliner, P.G. Wodehouse was born in 1881 and educated at Dulwich College. After two years with the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank he became a full-time writer, contributing to a variety of periodicals. As well as his novels and short stories, he wrote lyrics for musical comedies, and at one stage had five shows running simultaneously on Broadway.

At the age of 93, in the New Year's Honours List of 1975, he received a long-overdue Knighthood, only to die on St Valentine's Day some 45 days later.

Format:Paperback
Three superb (are there any other kind?) Jeeves & Wooster books all in one volume... sheer bliss. None of these stories disappoint, and come highly recommended. A minor note of warning, though- whilst all three of these stories can be read with no prior knowledge of Wodehouse, they do contain fairly extensive spoilers for earlier books. So before reading "Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves", read both "Right Ho, Jeeves" and "The Code of the Woosters", and be sure to read "Joy in the Morning" before "Jeeves and the Feudal Spirit". This isn't really a flaw, though, because those three represent Wodehouse at his best.

Wodehouse the master! 18 Nov 2006
Format:Paperback
Whenever I pick up this book, within a few pages of reading I am actually laughing out loud. Some sentences stick in my mind and make me laugh just by remembering them the next day! Such a wonderful world to escape to after a hard day. They should prescribe this book instead of Prozac.

Still wonderful 7 Feb 2012
Format:Paperback
Another collection of Wodehouse to add to the bookshelf - still the master after all these years, and thanks to Michael Hordern and Richard Briers, the images of these two stalwarts springs easily to mind as one reads. Super!!
