Book Description

An innovative diet plan from the authors of the Sunday Times bestseller Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat

Product Description

Raised in Tokyo, author Naomi Moriyama first travelled to the West as a college student, and promptly gained 25 pounds eating a typical Western diet. Returning home for the holidays, she found that the weight melted off as she reverted to the healthy diet of her homeland. The experience inspired her first book Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat.

Healthy and effective, The Japan Diet is based on the traditional Japanese style of eating and is filled with over 40 simple, delicious recipes: satisfying soups, fresh vegetables, delicate grilled fish; mouthwatering meals that will keep you satisfied for longer. And with a 7-day Healthy Eating Plan built on the foundations of the Japanese diet, but based on ready meals, takeaway foods and convienence items from supermarkets, this book is also ideal for those dieters without the time to cook.

With clear, practical advice and handy shortcuts, this diet offers a fresh and easy approach to a healthier, slimmer lifestyle.

A wonderful book! this is a step by step guide to Japanese food, nutrition information backed up with solid facts; Japan are the thinnest and longest-living.
Naomi Moriyama is a wonderful writer, and approaches the subject of switching to a japanese diet cautiously, offering western alternatives and insisting you don't have to switch to Japanese food completely. Obviously this displeased me as I was looking to immerse myself in Japanese cuisine completely, but nonetheless it provides a good few ingredients and recipes, but focusses mainly on telling you all about the staples of a Japanese diet and how ti integrate it into your lifestyle.
If you want recipes, buy a cookbook.
if you want to know about japanese food, buy this book. :)

The Japan Diet 3 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
The Japan Diet is a brilliant book for people who want to lose weight and lose it properly and sustainably.
This book is not a 'quick fix' solution or a 'fad diet' it is a collection of well researched tips, suggestions and facts on eating and living healthily.
Most of the information about losing weight and 'dieting' in this book mimics what everyone has been told before. Eat lots of fruit and veg, eat reguarly, excercise moderately etc...
What author Naomi Moriyama does with this well known information however is what makes this book great. Naomi allows the reader to join her and her family at the dinner table in her native country Japan and share a love and appreciation for food - the Japanese way!

The Japanese have the lowest rate of obesity in the developed world and you can understand why that is when reading this book.
This book is aimed at a UK audience offering a Japanese style of eating as a way to not only lose weight but to be healthier and enjoy eating.
I highly recommend this book.

Nothing new 7 April 2012
By Donnar
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Everything, that is in this not-appetizing book, you can find elsewhere, better written, with less USA oriented ingredients, which are - an unpleasant surprise - mainly bought already cooked, very few fresh ingredients are mentioned here. Was really disappointed.
