I love this book! If you have ever been to the famous Ivy restaurant in London then this will be a great read for you. If you haven't then you should! Also, whether you have or haven't, this gives such a great insight into the workings of the restaurant and some lovely recipes, from chicken masala to lobster Thermidor. Some recipes use what you will probably have in your store cupboard and some don't. Like most recipe books really. A fab book!!

I was not happy when this book was published, because as soon as I read the first section I knew my days of getting a table for dinner at a paltry fortnight's notice were over. My fears have proved correct, and I suspect largely because of AA Gill's riveting commentary on the workings of this exemplary restaurant which accompanies the (sometimes complex and all too fallible) recipes. If you only buy one "book of the meal", make it this one.
