Book Description

18 Jun 2012 Blood Singer (Book 4)
Celia Graves was once an ordinary human, but those days are long gone. Now she strives to maintain her sanity and her soul while juggling both vampire abilities and the powers of a Siren. Warned of a magical "bomb" at a local elementary school, Celia forces an evacuation. Oddly, the explosion seems to have no effect, puzzling both Celia and the FBI. Two weeks later, a strangely persistent bruise on Celia's leg turns out to be the first sign of a magical zombie plague. Finding the source of the plague isn't Celia's only concern. Her alcoholic mother has broken out of prison on the Sirens' island; her little sister's ghost has possessed a young girl; and one of Celia's boyfriends, a powerful mage, has disappeared.

Adventure and excitement at its best."--Yasmine Galenorn, "New York"" Times" bestselling author of the Otherworld series"This series just keeps getting better, maintaining a delicate balance between urban fantasy and paranormal romance. 4.0 out of 5 stars Good Addition to the Series 10 April 2012
By Kathy E. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I strongly suggest you read the previous books in the series (Blood Song, Siren Song and Demon Song) prior to reading this installment.

While I enjoyed all the books in this series, I enjoyed this particular installment much more than the previous books. The darker storyline engendered a serious tone and feel.

Celia was a stronger person and a more focused heroine in this installment. Although, it irritated me that she hesitates to use her siren abilities in the face of mortal danger. It also irritated me that the author spends too much time on Celia's bloody milkshakes and nutrition.

In my review of the previous book, Demon Song, I commented that Celia was weak and at a disadvantage. Her reaction and response time to situations in her surroundings, were greatly stunted due to the fact that she hasn't had human blood either from the tap or bagged. Further, the author has limited the potential of the vampire species by making them crazed with bloodlust once they consume human blood. The vampires in Celia's world will always be out of control and unable to function in society which greatly hampers their potential.

I am not a fan of zombies, however, I greatly enjoyed this story. The ingenuity of the storyline serve to amplify its creativity and mystification; in addition to being jam-packed with lots of action, suspense and intrigue.

I recommend this book to fellow dark urban fantasy readers and look forward to the next book Eldritch Conspiracy due out 2013.
I also recommend:
Sins of the Demon
Bloodstone (A Deadtown Novel)
A Brush of Darkness (Abby Sinclair, Book 1)
Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 1)
Black Dust Mambo

4.0 out of 5 stars Zombies?! Really?! 15 Mar 2012
By Cedar Creek Reader - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
For readers of the first three books in this series, the story arc was closely wound around the unrolling discoveries of Cecelia Graves' unique human/Siren/vampire lineage and those were interesting in and of themselves, beyond each book's plotline. The authors have expanded into a wider world and transitions are always difficult; they have accomplished it well enough to make waiting for new twists and turns worthwhile in future.

But did they have to try out Zombies? Not just Cecelia as infected with Zombieism, but potentially the whole of Southern Cal?

The arch nemesis is Glinda the Witch and she moves oddly from omnipotence to clumsiness. I'd have hit 3 1/2 stars if that rating were possible. Cecelia is a character worth waiting on, but, please, lose the Zombies.

1.0 out of 5 stars TO SLOW FOR COMFORT 20 April 2012
By Navigator - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I'm sorry; typically I enjoy writings from this author, but this addition is just slow and not well put together. I kept expecting the author to give me more or to have a better plot line then what was published, but for some reason this novel just falls very short of the mark. I would suggest that nobody pay full price for this novel and wait to get it at a discount before buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Writing Duo Cat Adams always tell a great tale! 2 Nov 2012
By C. Gruver - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This installment of The Blood Singer Series starts with Celia at a school, where she tries to get them to evacuate the building. See Celia has been informed by Dottie that a bomb will go off in the school and if it does, really bad things will happen. Just as she's being escorted out of the building, Celia can feel the bomb going off. When she turns around, Celia sees that everyone is moving in slow motion. Thanks to her vampiric strength, Celia is able to get the principal out of the school. Once outside the building, the woman can move at normal speed again and between the two of them, they work to evacuate the building. With the adults working to get the children out of the school, Celia heads to the basement to investigate. There she finds another magical bomb, which also goes off.

For a couple weeks, nothing much seems to happen, except that Celia has a constant headache and a bruise on her leg which just won't heal. Turns out the bomb was a method of infecting everyone at the school with a fatal disease--M. necrose. This disease turns people into more or less zombies and Celia was infected with it. Celia knows enough people to get cured of it, but there are a whole lot of people turning up in hospitals with it. Not to mention that Creede goes missing, her alcoholic mother manages to escape from her prison on the Siren island and a witch has stolen an ancient artifact called the Isis Collar which conveys magic to the wearer.

Will Celia be able to save the world again? Will she find her mother? And what about Creede? Where did he disappear to?

THE ISIS COLLAR is nonstop action from the very first page all the way through the very last page. Author duo Cat Adams have once again written a thrilling adventure set in a world filled with all kinds of magical beings and magic wielders. I love the way Celia takes care of her loved ones. In this book, she helps Dawna deal with the aftermath of her vampire attack. Some day Celia will have to decide between Bruno and John Creede. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.
