Cathy Dennis is, much to my disappointment, a very under-rated singer. Cathy released five top 25 hits from her 1991 number 3 LP 'Move To This',all featured here with the exception of 'C'mon and Get My Love' with D Mob. She has a unique vocal style which is well suited to a diverse range of music. Her voice is powerfull and soulful and this is demonstrated on the superb songs featured on this LP. Cathy was known as a disco diva in the early 1990's when she released hits such as Touch Me and Just Another Dream. She showed also her capability of singing ballads such as the melodic and heartfelt 'Too Many Walls'. She worked with Shep Pettibone in the early 1990's and offered a more soulful and less energetic style of music on her number 8 LP 'Into the Skyline'. The hits from this LP include 'Irresistible' and 'You Lied To Me'. Although different in style to her previous hits, these songs were successful in the charts and established Cathy as a major British female talent. In 1996, Cathy released the rock influenced 'West End Pad'. This song represented a major change in the style of music we had come to expect from Cathy Dennis. This song is very catchy and easy to listen to. Cathy showed that she was capable of singing and producing songs of a very different nature to dance and soul. Cathy had further success in 1997 with her version of the Kinks classic 'Waterloo Sunset' which reached number 11. Cathy's third album 'Am I The Kinda Girl' Was released soon after. On this LP shew worked with Ray davies from The Kinks. As well as her singing talent, this LP also reflects her producing, mixing and outstanding song writing talents. This LP offers music which is easy to listen to, catchy and songs sung with feeling and emotion.Read more ›

I love Cathy Dennis and her music and she was one of the best artists back in the late 80's to mid 90's. It is very hard to find any of her albums now and I would recommend people buy this CD. It has her best songs and material I've never heard before. Some releases which she featured should have been included, but weren't. Cathy Dennis is a real gem and one very good songwriter. Too many walls is one very sweet ballard and one of my all time faves.

A great CD [though as a previous commentator wrote, where is "C'mon and Get My Love"?] that reminds me of how great the 90s were for pop music; and how great Cathy Dennis was. Catchy songs, great lyrics and simply good fun. A CD I can listen to again and again.

Great to hear some songs I was not aware of, such as "The Date" [great thoughts and ideas] and "Fickle" [good fun].

Cathy Dennis is a wonderful singer/songwriter and there are plenty of great songs on here, most of the hit singles are on here but not to include the two tracks with D-mob Why and C`mon and get my love is an absolute crime! A good CD though to listen too and remember why Cathy was never far from the charts.
