Product Description

Product Description

Over the years, great Irish players such as Elisha Scott, Steve Heighway, Mark Lawrenson, Ronnie Whelan, John Aldridge, Ray Houghton, Steve Finnan and now Robbie Keane have proudly donned the Red shirt, helping to bring glory to the most successful team in English football. Every season, thousands of loyal supporters make the pilgrimage across the Irish Sea on a regular basis to be part of the Red army at Anfield, and all over the continent. From the pitch to the terraces, The Irish Kop is the story of that special relationship. It features interviews with all the biggest names who've worn red and green, from Heighway through to Aldridge and Whelan, right up to the newest recruit: Keane. A fans' section containing Irish Reds' letters and photos tells the story from the point of view of those who live and breathe LFC 24/7. Celebrity fans and journalists also contribute their stories. This book is a celebration of that incredible passion, the history of it, the stars who helped develop it and the unique devotion of the supporters. This is author John Hynes' first book. Born in Nenagh, County Tipperary, John is a fervent Liverpool fan and he is currently a journalist for Sport Media working on the official weekly LFC magazine and the official matchday programme.

This book gives a fascinating insight into the Irish connection with LFC. Full of interesting and amusing anecdotes, it is a book which any self-respecting Liverpool fan should not miss out on! Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down.
