Product Description

About the Author

Louise Arnold was born in Morden, Surrey. Her love of writing began at the age of four when she wrote her first poem. From the age of eight she lived in Bognor Regis until passing her A-Levels. Louise took a year out before university and back-packed, Amtrak'ed and GreyHound-ed across America. She graduated in 2003, from the University of Kent, with a 2.1 in drama (specialising in Stand-Up Comedy) and has now settled in Canterbury with her partner. Her spare time is taken up with a love of e-bay and carboot sales, changing the colour of her hair, and borrowing the neighbour's cat until she can buy her own Siamese. Grey Arthur: The Invisible Friend is her first novel. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

I brought this book because I went to the same college as Louise, but I am glad that I did as it was a thoroughly good read. I am 27 going on 12 and do read a lot of childrens books and feel that both children and adults alike will enjoy this book. She manages to tackle important issues like self esteem and bullying without being patronising and does so in a quirky amusing way. Her great sense of humour shines through in 'The Invisible Friend', in fact I would say that she is the next Lemony Snicket instead of J.K Rowling. As a big Lemony Snicket fan, I mean that as a complement. Nice one Lou, keep up the good work and look forward to the next book.

This book is one of those great cross-over books that will be enjoyed by both adults and children. The story is exciting, the tone witty and funny- and afterall, who wouldn't want an invisible friend to solve their problems, no matter how old they were?

This is an author that you will instantly like and trust- possibly the next JK Rowling? I look forward to more from her soon.

Showing astounding knowledge of childhoods ups and downs, Arnold suceeds in writing a witty, and insightful book. Arnold's friendly, funny voice is one you instantly trust and like, and her eye for detail adds further to the thoroughly enjoyable experience.

As a book that can be read, and enjoyed, by both children and adults alike, The Invisible Friend certainly helps Arnold to set off into the litarary world on the right foot. For this well written effort, Arnold is to be congratulated.
