This fascinating book grabs the reader from the first page. The story is about one boy's struggle to understand his personal history. A sinsister stranger winds his way into the main character's life, causing mayhem. The latter part of the book is wonderful. 'The Intruder' becomes one of those books you simply have to read nonstop until you come to the end.
'The Intruder' will be of interest to 40 somethings with a long memory. Children of today should also enjoy this book, although some social references in the story are now a little dated.
This book was made into a eight part series in 1972 by Granada television.
