Book Description

24 July 2008
Sahl lived in the first half of the 9th century. His five short treatises, Introduction to Astrology, The 50 Precepts, Judgments of Questions, Elections, and The Book of Times, appear to be the principal medieval source of rules for Horary Astrology and Elections. They constitute a corpus of detailed instruction for these two branches of Astrology. James Herschel Holden, the translator, is Research Director of the American Federation of Astrologers and is especially interested in early astrological works.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for traditional astrologers 26 April 2009
By Yuzuru I. Abreu - Published on Amazon.com
This is a complete must have for traditional astrologers.

Either in this translation or the one by astrologer Ben Dykes, Sahl is an important astrologer and has many important concepts in this book, mainly in electional and horary astrology.

Sahl and Mashalah are the most ancient works about horary astrology that we have available, so it is interesting to the reader to get them both. The work of Sahl is much more similar to what we consider now Horary, and he wrote only a 200 years after Mashalaha, if memory doesn't fail me.

Not recommended for modern astrologer, which would need a preliminary introduction to the theme.
