Product Description

Millions of people have been the victims of Internet scams in recent years. The Internet Financing Illusion explores one businessman's personal journey through the perplexing and often dark world of cyberspace and profiles the faceless financial scam artists who lurk behind keyboards and computer screens.

In 1999, Vincent Panettiere started searching for ways to finance his film production company. More than two hundred leads and several months later, he was unwittingly thrust into an Internet adventure that would consume his life. Anamika Biswas of Kolkata, India, said she had $33 billion to invest in several companies located in the United States, Bermuda, Canada, and Australia. For most of 2003, this twenty-four-year-old woman led Panettiere and approximately twenty other individuals and businesses with the precision of a military commander leading the enemy into a blind canyon.

In this powerful and cautionary tale, Panettiere includes the actual e-mails he exchanged with Biswas in order to help others recognize the inconsistencies, lies, and manipulative text that Internet scam artists use to lure their victims. The Internet Financing Illusion delivers firsthand information and invaluable guidance to keep you scam-proof in cyberspace.

Wow, would this make a great movie! 12 April 2009
By Beverly A. Golde - Published on Amazon.com
I bought this book because I knew Vin and his wife many years ago, not because I had much interest in internet financing. This story really sucks you in though. I couldn't put it down. It's a great story (although I'm sad my old friend Vince was a part of it) with interesting characters and a spell-binding story line. Wouldn't it be a wonderful irony if his financing quest finally was accomplished through turning this book into a screenplay and a blockbuster hit? I see it happening! It's a great read that I highly recommend. Way to go Vince!
A must read! 26 Feb 2008

Many of us have received scam emails, but the Author shares with us three intriguing scams; one which consumed him over a period of time.
It is difficult to fathom the creativity that some scam artists use to draw us into a web, almost devouring us in the process.
I hope you will enjoy this very well written account that Mr. Panittiere has shared with us, and hopefully, in the future, we'll see more of his work.
