This book is a must for anybody who wishes to display or sell their art work on the internet. It is packed full of information from getting started to finish.

It gives you many advantages and disadvantages on providing mass exposure of your creations, what you will get out of it and if your work is suitable. Helping you to decide whether it is for you or not.

It is full of questions and answers such as 'How can a web site presence help with promotion and sales of work?'. And there are a few case studies from various art web sites.

There is also a full section on copyright, the laws, your own work and other peoples.

The book also icludes a website directory displaying most of the online galleries artists can display their work on. Each includes web address, telephone contact, and prices they charge you for putting your work on, whether they take commission etc.
Plus other useful sites are included.

Good Source 4 Sep 2007

This little tome provides excellent information for the budding online artist, or those who need to brush up on online skills.

It gives just enough information, but on occasion one would have liked a bit more for the price. However it is easy to read, no mumbo-jumbo, and very to the point, particularly about online traps, websites and - most important - copyright matters. Also very helpful is the listing of online galleries / art promoters at the end.

I'd like to recommend this book in conjunction with "The Artist's Guide to Selling Work"; which gives a fuller picture for any artist wishing to establish themselves in the mart market.

A Kid's Review
I'm really peeved i bought this book - its from 2002. Its my fault for not noticing that before i ordered. 2002 is ancient history for anything to do with the internet. Its also extremely short. This genre of book COULD be awesome if it were up to date and packed with good info on HOW to get on the internet. This brochure is basically says "it is a good idea to get your art on the internet". Things have moved on in the almost decade since this book was writ, & when people pick up a book they expect a lot more these days.

I gave it 2 stars cos in 2002 it probably was a great little book that got people excited about it all. But right now, i want someone to tell me what is a good blog to use & about art blog etiquette, whats a good CMS for doing my own website updating easily, and maybe some coding if i'd need it, i also want to hear whats a good shopping cart setup. None o that covered in this 'un. Very basic, and if thats what u want, then ok, but you'll probably still get that basic-ness from 1 chapter of other recent art business books.
