In their time, and in our's, they were the best. Bill Monroe (the best bluegrass performer ever), Connie Francis (the best girl pop singer of the '50s and early '60s) and The Ink Spots (the best R&B pop vocal group of a generation) will each be the subject of a new greatest hits compilation in the 20th Century Masters/The Millennium Collection series, to be released October 5, ... Product Description

Not only was Connie Francis one of the biggest recording stars in the English-speaking world, she also triumphed in many other foreign countries. Consequently her record label had her make discs of her hits in languages such as German, French and Japanese, and this album brings together twenty-six tracks of Connie singing in nine languages, many of them becoming major hits in those countries.

On this CD you will hear Connie sing "Vacation" in Japanese, "Where the Boys Are in Spanish", "Mr Twister" in French and "Don't Break the Heart That Loves You" in German. Many tracks here are appearing on CD for the first time.

Format: Audio CD
During the late Fifties/early Sixties Connie Francis was reigning Queen at MGM Records and she must have spent much time within recording studios in order to sustain her world-domination continued at a steady pace. Whether rendering those metallic sounding pop platters or emoting multi-language ballads and cute novelty numbers, there was no stopping Connie, although her hit singles left me somewhat unmoved except when rendered in German. However, with hindsight, I now embrace all her recordings - whether hit singles or album tracks and their reappearance on CD’s makes it possible to appreciate the singer's growing maturity and versatility as she vocally tackles a variety of moods and genres.

Sepia Records now follows up previous Connie Francis releases with this multi-language compilation which ticks all the right international boxes for apart from ten welcome German language recordings headed by DIE LIEBE IST EIN SELTSAMES SPIEL (EVERYBODY‘S SOMEBODYS FOOL), there’s Swedish (PRETTY LITTLE BABY), French (LOVE IS LIKE A VIOLIN and three others), Japanese (VACATION and three others), Spanish (MANY TEARS AGO and two others), Italian (ROMAN GUITAR), Hebrew (HAVA NAGILAH and one other) and Greek (NEVER ON SUNDAY) versions of many of her English hits or songs recorded specially for each country. Through it all, the singer commands attention; whether it be the familiar SOMEONE ELSE’S BOY, WHERE THE BOYS ARE, LA PALOMA, MALAGUENA, LILI MARLEEN or BREAKIN’ IN A BRAND NEW BROKEN HEART rendered in a foreign language but essentially Connie in full pop format but as I always say you don’t need to know the lingo in order to enjoy this kind of music.
Backed up with Sepia’s informative notes, some colourful sleeve reproductions and month/year of recording.

Thanks Sepia 14 Feb. 2014

Sepia has done a great job in the past as the above review mentions, so for that a big thanks goes to you Sepia for keeping the Connie music alive and sounding wonderful. I did not enjoy this set as much as I have the other offerings from Sepia. Its not Connie and its not the sound or the transfer, its the material. Its all her greatest hits we have heard over and over again. NOW, it could be that some of the Connie fans have not heard the versions on this CD and if you have not well this is a great and welcome collection for you. I am a true Connie fan and have many of these recordings already, with Sepia I was hoping they would turn out material that has not yet been on CD, and there is so much. I would love to hear in clear beautiful stereo, Connie Love Italian Style or Connie Francis on Broadway Today, or Jealous Heart, wow there are so many. Connie was a big hit in Germany in the 60's and most of the collection is in German. However, don't let this review discourge you, it is still a great set and WELL worth the money. Connie was a treasure in so many languages and deserves to be remembered for all she accomplished. Who could do that today? No any language:)

Misfire 13 Feb. 2014
By Terry D. Robertson - Published on

Sephia has released several nice products in the past. The only CDs available here are foreign issue. The label's Italian CD last year was interesting and well thought out. This disc relies heavily on Connie's German output with a smattering of other languages to sample and only samples. Herein lies the problem. The collection is poorly executed. There are several cuts in Japanese, Italian and Spanish, all readily available. The French tracks are minimal but are the most interesting. Sephia should devote their next CD on Connie's French recordings. IT would be a first. Keep up the good work. The available Connie CDs on other labels are too similar. Sephia and Hallmark have been standouts in Connie product. I like this disc, it just needed more thought to live up to the lofty title. If you are a fan unfamiliar with her full body of work, purchase it.. This is a label to watch out for.
Great Compilation CD 14 May 2015

International Connie Francis is a fine CD by Connie Francis doing her international hits. There are 26 generous tracks. Sepia records once more does right by her many fans. Enjoying it all my particular favorite songs are, Monsieur Twister, Never On Sunday, Jamais, Mon CoeurEst Un Violon, and C'est Lui Que Je veux. Nice Photographs of Connie also. Connie Francis fans, and lovers of good pop music will like this the most.
Let's Try This One Again 27 Mar. 2014

This CD is nice for the first-timer. But for a fan who has everything she recorded on vinyl or CD, this package contains just rehashed songs. Where are some of the Italian, French, Portuguese and German hits Connie made? It's nice to have this CD but it could have been done better...with care!
