As the previous two reviewers I have found this an incredibly useful resource. The ideas presented here really bring intercessions to life with immediate relevency. Various media and methods are recommended to compliment or replace the usual spoken intercessions, involving individuals directly in the process. Any Church or group feeling tired in its prayer life will find that the styles presented will refocus and refresh. We have used many of the techniques in our home group and they have always created relaxed, non-threatening opportunities for participation of individuals in communal prayer.

As a lay person who sometimes leads intercessions in a Methodist Church I was looking for help in formulating prayers that were relevant, appropriate and a bit different in approach. I was recommended to look at John Pritchard's books and I have found them to be inspirational, helpful and very easy to do as he invites you to, to take the ideas and approaches and adapt them to fit what is happening in Church, in the world and in the lives of individuals.
My first foray into his books, The Intercessions Handbook and Leading Intercessions, was to use a style that was very unusual but it was well received and made people sit up and take notice of what they were praying. I don't hesitate to recommend them and I like his style.

This book contains a wealth of helpful images and ideas within which our prayers can be framed. It is a work to be referred to again and again and is a great resource to have on the bookshelf

I used a format and altered some of the prayers to be appropriate for my first Intercessions at Church. I found the book a great help and members of the congregation, who knew it was my first "Praying" in public said very encouraging things. If the other members did not notice, then I achieved acceptance!

A really helpful source of prayers. Well received. I have recommended this to other preachers who also say that it is very useful.
