Product Description

Insulin resistance, or Syndrome X, is taking the health world by storm and is linked to conditions such as obesity, type II diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. This practical and accessible workbook allows sufferers to treat and prevent insulin resistance, leading to life long good health.

Insulin resistance, or Syndrome X, is a growing problem in the West due to a diet high in refined sugars and carbohydrates. It is linked to several of the most serious health conditions such as the endemic levels of obesity, type II diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.

This book is a practical guide to treating and preventing insulin resistance through diet, including increase levels of the right fats and proteins and fewer refined carbohydrates.

Includes all the facts surrounding Syndrome X, diagnostic questionnaires, case studies and a clear self-help plan that has evolved from Antony’s unique nutritional approach.

The Insulin Factor 19 May 2004
Format:Paperback
Every healthcare practitioner and anyone who is either overweight, lethargic, experiencing sugar cravings, has a poor memory and/or suffers from high cholesterol people needs to know about, and know how to treat Syndrome X - The Insulin Factor enables you to achieve both. Antony Haynes's has combined his considerable clinical experience with the latest scientific research to produce, what I believe is the most effective and easy-to-follow Syndrome X nutritional treatment plan available to date. As a holistic medical physician who has been inspired by Antony's work, I can verify that his recommendations do work and that they have the potential to transform the quality of life of anyone suffering from the effects of insulin resistance.

This is a hard work to get in to from the point of view of 'having a go' at losing weight. That said this book is actually about controlling your weight and reversing the tendency to gain weigh, especially as we get older.

You really need to read this book twice.

FIRST - to get into all the areas that it covers, including the roles of insulin, good fats, vitamins, minerals etc and how they all work together to control weight.

SECOND TIME - to do the surveys (there are a lot of them) and thus find out which of the plans you need to follow to control insulin, appetite, replace missing vitamins and minerals, and sort out cravings.

This is a well researched diagnostic book with lots of meal ideas too.

WHATS WRONG with this book is that ALL the vitamin and mineral supliments, as well as the insulin balancing product are sourced from its support website - look in Holland & Barratt or other health food stores and get the suppliments from there - they seem to work out a lot cheaper!!!!

Still, I have read the book TWICE - done the surveys and worked out my insulin resistance (medium) - and will start with the plans soon - just need to buy the vitamins now.
