The good news is that The Instant Tarot Reader works with almost any tarot deck, and not just with the incredibly beautiful and gentle Zerner/Farber Deck that comes with it. The Z/F deck is 78 fabric collage tapestries made into a tarot deck. It is so beautiful I really don't know how to describe it in words. All I can tell you is that my wife, Amy Zerner, won a major National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in the category of Painting for her fabric tapestries, not in the category of Crafts. She was the only artist working in fabric to do this in the history of the NEA.
If you are a beginner, there is no better way to learn. If you are experienced, I guarantee you will find a lot of meanings for the cards in the positions that you have never thought of before. The cards are small which is great for shuffling considering I have very small hands, other "regular sized" tarot cards are awkward to shuffle.
I'd recommend this set for beginners as a good head start for reading the tarot. Once this is accomplished reading other books for more in depth knowledge of tarot is a must.
The cards are small, about the size of regular playing cards, which makes them easier for the novice to shuffle. They have a nicely moody feeling to them (did Amy Zerner design them or Stevie Nicks?) Seriously, I enjoy Amy Zerner's work on this deck and wouldn't mind a larger showy set of these cards. There are a lot of rich colors in this deck and it's origionality makes it perfect for the Tarot collector.
