Not Worth The Money 17 Sep 2003
Format:Paperback
I found this book very dissapointing. In short, the information
is limited and what there is is confusing. The book contains only
100 pages and 60 of those are photos without any details. I wouldn't mind if the photo's were good and printed well but they are not. The only real use for this book is to inspire you to do better!

A great book for any photographer interested in learning about infrared photography. Unlike many books written on specialized areas of photography that are difficult to comprehend, this book is easy to understand and does not confuse the reader with highly technical information. Instead, The Art of Infrared Photography sets forth in a clear, concise, detailed text, exactly how to adapt this wonderful film to your individual style of shooting. The author guides you step by step with true understanding of the medium, as if you were taking a photo course given by an inspired instructor. The added bonus of a breathtaking portfolio of images by the author will motivate anyone to grab their camera, load up with infrared film and rush out to create a new world of high contrast, dream-like images. Without a doubt the best book on infrared photography on the market.

The Art of Infrared Photography is an excellent, up to date look at the black and white and color infrared medium. It explores all aspects of infrared photography, as well as how new films(Kodak, once the industry standard has been joined by Konica, Agfa and Ilford) render images in significantly different ways. The book skillfully guides the reader through all the procedures necessary to produce high quality black and white and color infrared images. The text is written in concise language that any photographer ( novice or advanced ) can understand and impliment toward his or her art. There is also a chapter devoted to toning and hand-coloring black and white infrared prints. The chapter on color infrared film is enlightening and shows how this medium can also transport the reader to an ethereal world of specialized photography. The portfolio section consisting of black and white and color images is stunning and inspirational. By far, the best sourcebook on infrared photography on the market. Raises the bar by setting a new standard for the art of infrared photography.
