Sometimes a film comes along, stars well known actors, boasts being based on a novel by an author responsible for other successes, and amounts to way below average. The Informers, drifts from scene to scene, without really going anywhere. Its depressing stuff. Based in Los Angeles during the 80's, the story appears to ...be about the down side of money, power, sex, and drugs. Kim Basinger is ok, Mickey Rourke does a good job, Winona Ryder is good. I get the impression these kind of films get made at a time when there's little else going on. On a positive note, the 80's sound track added something, and there is a memorable moment during which the lead singer, drifts off (mentally) while on stage performing, causing concern for his band mates, only to come around and get with it.
