Book Description

Beneath an alien sea!

Flung back into the galaxy to an alien ocean world, John Bandicut and his companions find themselves plunged into the deepsea realm of the Neri. What will they find in the Neri's failing undersea city, or in the terrifying object of the deep abyss that threatens this world? Vol. 3 of The Chaos Chronicles continues the hard-SF saga inspired by chaos theory, from the Nebula-nominated author of Eternity's End.

With an Afterword by the author.

Reviews and quotes:

"Another splendid adventure, with intriguing puzzles, first-rate problem-solving, and an impressive array of alien characters, motives, and methods." -- Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

"An absolutely terrific book. Carver is heir apparent to Larry Niven as the king of hard SF: his stories revolve around ideas that are every bit as big as Niven's, and his aliens are every bit as fascinating. Chaos theory says outcomes are unpredictable, but here's one that's a sure thing: if you start reading The Infinite Sea, you won't be able to put it down until the very last page." --Robert J. Sawyer

Carver scores again. Gives us mystery, high adventure, and the sense of wonder in the grand old tradition.
—Jack McDevitt

This book is one of the best books I have ever read. I could not put it down. Because of its many plots that eventually came together I would read for 2 -3 hours strait. The charactors were very interesting and strange with so many different personalities. I would recamend this book to EVERYONE.

This is the third book in the serious and the charitures have evolved and become one of the best books I have readin a long time. It has all the right mixtures of a good sic if. This being the 3rd book in the series. john Banicot and friends with the help of his robots travel through spaces. I will not tell you much of the stories as it is a good read and you need to find out for yourselves. It has humour, loneliness. Isolation and fear. Try it out you will not be disappointed.

Better than the previous book. The reader is drawn more into the narrative and left with a better feeling of understanding without unexplained links between developments and alien technologies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!!! 15 April 2014

This series so far has been excellent. The Infinite Sea has been the best so far!

The series is very reminiscent of Rendezvous with Rama, the same sort of mysteries waiting to be discovered, but unlike A.C. Clarke's series, subsequent books have improved on the original.

Just downloaded book 4, will definitely be reading some of Mr Carver's other works when I get through with this series.

Keep up the good work Jeffrey.

4.0 out of 5 stars the infinite series. 20 Dec. 2013

its all ticking along nicely and i hope our jeffery can conjure up his reunion of john and julie without having too many cracks to paper over. I like to think myself into the protagonists shoes in books i read and who wouldnt like to be whisked across the stars to a life of fascinating new friends and experiences, all with handy built in adaptability from magic stones that allow you to live and communicate with most other beings. Id sign up for it tomorrow without a backwards glance . i think most people who read these books probably would as well.
