5.0 out of 5 stars The Incredible Book Eating Boy 22 Sep 2006
My son aged 3 loves this book. It is by far the best book I have ever bought for him. The illustrations are fantastic. My son was amazed when he saw the picture of Henry with the books

inside his stomach and refuses to go to sleep until has seen the page of what happens to Henry when he has eaten too many books!

At the back of the story book you will see the indents on the pages where Henry has

literally taken a huge chunk out of the back of this book.

You must buy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming humour for little and big kids 2 Oct 2006
I stumbled across this book in a shop and was immediately captured by the lovely prose and cheeky hidden jokes for adults. Henry is a curious little creation of Jeffers' gorgeous illustrations and as a teacher, I know that the many facets of this text make it perfect for use in the classroom. I heard Oliver Jeffers interviewed on BBC radio last week, discussing the painstaking process of creating the book, right down to perfecting his own handwriting in the text and thinking about the impact of the illustrations. I love the idea of a delightful picture book that has been lovingly created by its author. This one will become part of my portable classroom library for sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely book which makes any child giggle 12 Jun 2007

This is a beautiful book with good illustrations and is actually quite an amusing story. The fact that the book has a bite mark on it makes the story sort of real and inspires the children to want to read it. Definately would recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oliver Jeffers does it again! 6 May 2007
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
As far as I'm aware, this is Oliver Jeffers third childrens book.

It is a bit different from the others - it feels a little bit more grown up. The story is a bit more complex. It is still simple enough for my 2.5 year old to understand, and she would still have enjoyed it when she was younger. Infact, we've read this to our 8 month old who seems to enjoy it too as the illustrations are (as you'd expect from Oliver Jeffers) visually gorgeous.

The story is laced with humour as a boy discovers he likes to eat books, and realises he learns things when he does it. Eventually he learns that reading a book is the best way to enjoy them!

This is wonderfully written and you'll fall in love with both the story and the illustrations. Oliver Jeffers is one of those authors who manages to write books which you enjoy just as much as your child.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Reading! 7 May 2012
This book is about a boy and he loves to eat books, but one day he feels a bit ill. So the doctor says stop eating books. So the boy whose name is Henry, stops eating books and he feels much more better. Oliver Jeffers has a unique style. It was awesomely brilliant. I loved the bit when he stops eating books because he can feel better in the future. His writing is very cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars very tasty reading 26 Jan 2011
Daniela (6) loved reading this book with me. She says, "I love reading books!"
The illustrations worked perfectly with the story, giving equal reward to the listening parent as to the child.
Daniela wanted to take lots of pictures of the book as she'd enjoed it so much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great from Jeffers! 26 Feb 2010
Once again Oliver Jeffers gives us a great story from his wild imagination. The design of this book is very unusual, using various book pages as the background, the story is printed & illustrated over the top. The storyline kept both my 7 & 5yr old on the edge of their seats and the last page had them rolling with laughter!! If you have enjoyed his previous award-winning books, then you won't be disappointed with this one.
