The Importance of Being Trivial: In Search of the Perfect Fact

I suppose I can best describe it as an account of the process and interviews (many interesting and well known people) which Mark Mason went through whilst researching the book. Full of delightful pieces of trivia as well as some theories on memory, recall and psychology. I read this on holiday, even though it is a factual book it is a very easy read - although a couple of chapters nearly get heavy - but only nearly. I bought it after hearing the author read a passage from it on Radio 4 - I think he could have read any page on the radio and it would be appealing - it's one of those books just full of bits you want to share with other people. I finished it in about 4 days but I doubt my husband will enjoy it because I have already I read most of it out loud to him. Gosh I must have been annoying, but I coudn't wait for him to read it before I shared it.

If you like trivia but don't know why then read this - it may or may not give you the answer but you should find it enriching and FUN!

Now, what else has Mark Mason written...

Easy reading, dotted with interesting (to me) factoids. I did look forward to reading the next instalment of the authors search each night. However I feel it led to a disappointing conclusion which makes me think maybe I should have read something else instead.
