The illustrations in the book by Edmund Dulac are truly breathtakingThe Illustrated Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, each one a work of art that matches the facing text. Being one of the most beautiful poems of all time it is gratifying to see that the paintings truly do justice to the prose. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.My mother learnt the poem as a child in India and I bought it for her. Unfortunately it was the translation by Edward J Fitzgerald, not the version she had memorised, so I need to order another. In truth I am delighted, I can now claim this copy for myself.

The foregoing review is puzzling. I do not know a single educated person who is not aware that the translations by Edward Fitzgerald are an absolute masterpiece of the English language; especially the Fifth Edition of the translation, as given here. The reviewer apparently speaks Farsi and is looking for a literal translation.
The beautiful paintings by Edmund Dulac are gorgeous and are well printed. Recommended.

This edition of "The Illustrates Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam" is breathtakingly beautiful. The illustration are excellent and like none I've seen. When combined with the illustrations, the quattrains come to life like I have never recognized before. If you are looking for an excellent translation and compilation of Omar Khayyam's Rubaiyat, then this is the edition I highly recommend.
