270 pages. Approximately A4 size. A well written and informative book on a subject (WWI) which has often been relatively overlooked, in comparison to its' bigger budget sequel.

The quality of the printing is excellent, but for me (it's probably just my age), the text is a bit on the small side.

There are chapters on Armoured Vehicles, Field Guns, Heavy Artillery, Machine Guns, Rifles, Pistols, Fighter Aircraft, Bombers, Airships, Battleships, Pre-Dreadnought Battleships, Armoured Cruisers, Light Cruisers and Submarines. Each significant weapon in the categories is described, on between a page and half a page, depending on the' importance of its' role. Each has a colour profile and/or a photograph, or two. A specification summary is also included. There is a single page introduction to each chapter and each is also interspersed with a 2-3 page account offering more detail about a particular weapon, battle, details of tactics, individuals, etc, related to the topic of the chapter.

I am thoroughly enjoying this book and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in history, or things military.

Brother in law still reading this present. Good to dip into rather than read from cover to cover

Hidden Treasures of World War I 31 July 2014
By Mark Graham - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Exploring the key weapons of the first World War is a priority for Chris Bishop, the writer behind this great book. He delves into more than 300 different weapons and their earliest uses. The book includes everything from handguns to zeppelins.

Between the pages of this book you will learn about the history of each weapon as well as their many variations. Bishop answers many questions you might have had about World War 1 weaponry, and the photos are enough to please any military history enthusiast. In fact, many photographs offer insight into how the particular weapon might have been used during the war.

Bishop's book is most comparable to Michael Neiberg's "The Military Atlas of World War I". They both offer accurate and detailed illustrations, but Neiberg's work is more focused on the geography associated with the war.

This book is one that any World War I enthusiast will want to have on the bookshelf. It is packed with information about weapons, and it is loaded with unseen knowledge. Anybody interested in historical research for this time period will find a treasure in Bishop.
it was laid out and illustrated in a format easy to follow 11 Dec. 2014
By Gary Larsson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Overall a generally well laid-out overview of the weapons used during the war. While displeased with the omission of a couple of major weapons (Colt M1911 of all things, along with the Hanriot fighter as two prime examples of omissions), it was laid out and illustrated in a format easy to follow.

Another British Biased War Book 23 Nov. 2014
By RGD - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
As usual, written in the United Kingdom, all of the British weapons systems are covered in detail, while some or little is written about the other countries. For example, missing from the book: Airplanes - Monrane/Saulnier, Albatros D III, Halberstadt CL III. Maybe one day someone will put together a balanced book.
