Product Description

Product Description

Beginning with a biological and evolutionary overview of the animal kingdom, this book examines a range of animal characteristics, such as anatomy, survival instincts and reproduction. It explores the impact that humans have had on the natural world, with an investigation into endangered species and wildlife conservation. There is also a section on the earth's habitats, showing how animals adapt to their surroundings. The second part of the book is divided into geographical chapters describing animals from North and South America, Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. OVer 1000 full colour illustrations, 800 distribution maps and information boxes detailing habitat, diet, size, life span and conservation status accompany each entry.

A pleasing gift 2 April 2010
Format:Hardcover
I sent this book to my young grand-daughter in Australia for her birthday, knowing that she was very fond of animals. I hear from her that she was absolutely delighted with it.

Hence, an ideal present for a child interested in animals.

I bought this book for my 6 year old daughter who loves reference books. This would also be suitable for adults as it is very comprehensive and would make a great addition to any home reference family library. It is a lot smaller in size than the sea life one we already own being roughly novel sized rather than A4 sized.
