Book Description

Mar 2004 Cynster Novels
Bestselling author Stephanie Laurens has created some of romance's most unforgettable novels. Now she has created her most provocative love story -- and amazing hero -- to date. This is the book that dares to ask the question: Who is this man's ideal bride?

Michael Anstruther-Wetherby is a rising member of Parliament -- a man destined for power. Aristocratic, elegant, and effortlessly charming, he is just arrogant enough to capture the interest of the ladies of the ton. And with his connections to the wealthy and influential Cynster family -- his sister is married to Devil Cynster, the Duke of St. Ives -- his future appears assured.

Except that Michael lacks the single most important element of success: a wife.
Political pressure sends him searching for his ideal bride, a gently bred, malleable young lady, preferably one with a political background. Michael discovers such a paragon but finds a formidable obstacle in his path -- the young lady's beautiful, strong-minded aunt, Caroline Sutcliffe. One of London's foremost diplomatic hostesses, Caro has style and status but, having lived through an unhappy political marriage, wants nothing of the sort for her niece, who has already lost her heart to another.

So Caro and the younger woman hatch a plot: Caro will demonstrate why an inexperienced young lady is not the bride for Michael. She succeeds in convincing him that what he really needs is a lady of experience by his side. And the perfect candidate is right under his nose -- Caro herself.

Then it is Michael's turn to be persuasive, a task that requires every ounce of his seductive charm as he tempts and tantalizes Caro, seeking to convince her that becoming his bride will bring her all her heart desires . . . and more.

But then a series of mysterious, and dangerous, accidents befall Caro -- an assailant has stepped in with their own idea for Caro's future, one that could involve murder. Before Caro can become Michael's ideal bride, they must race to uncover the unknown's identity before all hope of what they long for, and wish for, is destroyed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just to long 2 Mar 2013
Format:Paperback
Michael Anstruther-Wetherby is a rising member of Parliament. But to get ahead he is going to need to get a wife He soon set his sites on the niece of Caroline Sutcliffe, the merry widow. After a while Michael realizes that he want Caro, but there is one of many problems, Caro does not want to remarry.
"The Ideal Bride" by Stephanie Laurens was just way to long and seem to be a repeat of the same storyline. I have to say that it was a very hard struggle to finish this book and the only reason that I did is because I invested so much time into it. It seems after reading

I was very disappointed on buying this book as it is advertised as large print and it is not! I bought it for my mother who has very poor eyesight but she was unable to read it and gave it back to me!

1.0 out of 5 stars Same old story 17 May 2005
By CJ VINE™ VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Just another rehash of every other book she's written. One wants to get married, the other doesn't but is quite happy to make lurve at the drop of a hat in the most unusual places. Few unlikely murder attempts thrown in just to vary things a bit. Happy ending.

1.0 out of 5 stars More story please and less sex 23 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback
I really enjoy novels set in this era and was hoping to have found another author I would be able to get lost in.
Underlying the books I have read of hers so far is a good story which keeps you guessing until the end. I liked the fact the females did not just fall at the males feet because they were strong characters.
However instead of the odd coupling there is in-depth descriptions of sex acts which last for pages and add nothing to the story in my opinion. I think it is a shame because I think this author would be a good if not great story teller by calming down the sex scenes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Regency Romance 20 Mar 2010
By joy
Format:Paperback
This author is very much along the lines of the immortal georgette heyer and has based some of her hero's and heroine's on her characters. The difference here is she has lifted them from the kiss on the finger tips to people with real passions and needs. I am gripped by her books and intend to collect her complete collection. I have georgette heyers complete works and re read them over and over i am sure these will be the same.
